Welcome back to another installment of our “Thrive Employee Spotlight” blog series.

Our featured Thrive Employee is Katy Huggins. Katy is an Account Manager for the Mid-Atlantic region at Thrive.

Katy brings over 15 years of experience offering relationship building and organizational support to corporate enterprises. At Thrive, Katy is responsible for consistent and reliable communication with clients, including discussing the company’s NextGen managed services offerings. She also assists with providing thorough quotes of services, project services, and hardware through Salesforce.

She lives in Scaggsville, Maryland, with her husband and four children. She loves to read and take walks with her dog.

Hi Katy! Can you tell us about your background and how you came to Thrive?

Before coming to Thrive, I raised my four children until their college years. At that point, it was time for me to go back into the workforce. I had an idea on what type of work I’d like to get back into, so I utilized my professional connection to the owner and founder of Howard Tech Advisors.

In July of 2018, Howard Tech Advisors became my first opportunity in the technology sector. I served as the company’s dispatcher/service coordinator. I saw every single request that came through the company. It was a constant juggling act, very fast-paced, and kept me on my toes. I like that energy, and it was the best way for me to learn the industry from the ground up.

In early 2020, I moved into an account management role. My role as the service coordinator helped me transition into the Account Management role with the knowledge I gained previously. Then COVID-19 hit, and everyone was working remotely. Working remotely helped challenge me with thinking differently how I could I continue to build relationships with clients and make them feel well served in such an interesting, unfamiliar environment. Howard Tech was acquired by Thrive in March 2021 and that brings me to where I am today.

Where did you go to school or get training?

I’m a graduate of Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas, and I was a speech communications major. I had big dreams of going to Washington D.C. and becoming a speechwriter. I ended up landing in event production and stayed for many years.

What do you most enjoy about working for Thrive?

I get to work with so many interesting companies that all have different needs. My day to day is never the same. I enjoy being the person to help my clients get what they need for their operations in order to be successful. It’s a collaborative position; working with clients and working with different departments at Thrive.

Any recent exciting projects at Thrive that you can tell us about?

The very first project I got to work on was called Desktop as a Service (DaaS). This service helped one of my smaller clients and it ended up being a great fit for them. Since I wasn’t that familiar with the project, it helped me gain knowledge for future clients that are at similar size. Removing the client’s dependence on actual hardware was a cost-saving, positive result.
