Thrive Appoints Chief Customer Officer to Lead Client Initiatives

MSP Industry Veteran Bill McLaughlin to Oversee Growing Customer Base

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – July 1, 2021 Thrive, a premier provider of NextGen Managed Services, has appointed Bill McLaughlin as the company’s first Chief Customer Officer. Drawing on his nearly 20 years of managed services industry experience, McLaughlin will continue to drive more value, messaging, communication, and faster platform adoption to Thrive’s customers. In his new role, he will support Thrive’s expanding global footprint and clientele with the company’s extensive NextGen portfolio of Cloud, Cyber Security, Networking and Business Continuity services.

As Chief Customer Officer, McLaughlin will lead Thrive’s dedicated team of General Managers, Senior Principal Consultants and Customer Success Managers in each U.S. region. Prior to Thrive, McLaughlin held a senior leadership role at Kaseya, where he completed an expedited one-year IT Management software journey. He has demonstrated broad experience in managed services and digital transformation growth strategies. Previously as an EVP and CTO, McLaughlin assisted in spearheading the growth of Atlantic Tomorrow’s Office, an innovative managed services company in the Greater New York market with more than 400 employees and $150 million in revenue.

Executive Spotlight: Marc Capobianco, EVP of Corporate Operations

Welcome back to another installment of our “Thrive Employee Spotlight” blog series.

Our featured Thrive Executive is Marc Capobianco, Executive Vice President of Corporate Operations.

Marc currently manages Thrive’s strategy and solutions, serving financial firms, private equity firms, and others in the financial space to solve their business technology, security and compliance challenges. He oversees the New England Account Management team and is transitioning to lead Thrive’s Corporate Operations.

Marc lives in North Reading, Massachusetts, with his wife and three teenage boys. He enjoys running, cycling, and competing in triathlons and marathons. 


Hi Marc! Can you tell us about your background and how you came to Thrive? 

I started an MSP out of my parents’ house 25 years ago called Tier1Net. Over time, Tier1Net grew and evolved, focusing on providing Managed IT services to financial services firms.  Tier1Net became part of Thrive in June  2019, and I was appointed to Executive Vice President of Thrive’s FinTech Practice. I graduated from Merrimack College with a degree in Management & Finance and went on to get a Masters Degree at Boston University in Management Information Systems (MIS).

What do you most enjoy about working for Thrive?

I love the people, our clients, and the challenge. First, I am extremely fortunate to work with an amazing team of dedicated and talented individuals who are always raising the bar. Second, I am very grateful to work with many clients who believed in me 25+ years ago and are still clients to this day. Finally, I love solving challenges for clients and seeing the positive impact on their businesses.

Any recent exciting projects at Thrive that you can tell us about?

In early March, Microsoft announced several flaws with their On-premise Exchange Server Software. Within hours of this announcement, cyber adversaries were weaponizing exploits of this vulnerability at unprecedented levels. I worked alongside Thrive’s support, engineering, executive, and security teams, which are made up of 50+ engineers from all regions to combat this global threat.

Court Square-Backed Thrive Buys Oni

Thrive, a provider of managed services, has acquired Oni, a U.K. cloud, hybrid managed IT, Cisco Gold partner and data center services provider based in Luton, Bedfordshire, England. Thrive has accelerated growth with its recent investment from Court Square Capital Partners, and the ONI acquisition marks the company’s initial steps to significantly increase its geographic footprint, both domestically and internationally.

Thrive expands abroad and gains Tier-3 data centre

US-based managed service provider Thrive has kick-started its international expansion with the acquisition of UK network, cloud and data centre services firm ONI.

Luton (pictured), Bedfordshire-based ONI operates its own Tier-3+ data centre to deliver its cloud services and is a Cisco Gold partner. It provides IaaS, backup and disaster recovery, unified comms and contact centre as-a-service, among other services.

Thrive was recently financially backed by Court Square Capital Partners, and the ONI deal is the first move made by Thrive to expand its footprint outside the US.
