Employee Spotlight
Thrive Spotlight: Henry Corvers – vCIO
Welcome back to another installment of our “Thrive Spotlight” blog series.
Our featured employee is Henry Corvers. As a Virtual Chief Information Officer (vCIO), he is part of the Advisory team, where he works closely with customers to help them achieve their business goals. Henry enjoys building relationships and earning trust. After thoroughly assessing their business risks and understanding their objectives, he identifies technology recommendations and opportunities within each customer’s unique IT environment.
Based in the beautiful town of Newcastle, Ontario, about 80 kms from Toronto, Henry loves the outdoors. He and his family, including his dog Milo, can be found fishing, camping, hiking, and exploring the amazing provincial and national parks in Canada. He and his wife enjoy taking motorcycle tours, being active in their local church community, and golfing – though they’re not expecting to make the professional circuit any time soon! Cool fact? Henry founded a Scotch club 15 years ago that still meets regularly to enjoy sampling a good Scotch. One of his favourites? Lagavulin Distillers Edition.
Hi Henry! Can you tell us about your background and how you came to Thrive?
I have over 30 years of experience in the information technology sector, beginning my career with a computer services firm before transitioning to one of Canada’s largest retail organizations. Throughout this time, I held a series of progressively senior roles with a primary focus on infrastructure. My responsibilities have encompassed project delivery, oversight of production data centers, and the management of enterprise disaster recovery services. I joined Thrive as a vCIO for Canada through an internal referral, a role that has allowed me to apply my knowledge and experience to a diverse portfolio of customers who trust us nationwide.
Where did you go to school or get training?
I started my career as a Netware Engineer and have augmented my training with many certifications and courses online and at business training schools throughout my career.
What do you most enjoy about working for Thrive?
I have the pleasure of working with fantastic team members from many different areas of Thrive, from Account Management, Client Success, Operations and Advisory. There is a tremendous amount of knowledge and experience across these teams, and they are focused on stabilizing and improving the technology environments of our customers, allowing them to focus on business goals and objectives.
Are there any recent exciting projects at Thrive you can tell us about?
Several of the businesses I support are actively working to leverage technology for operational improvements. For example, in working closely with one of our Canadian customers, by learning their technology stack and understanding their current business goals, I was able to identify areas that required changes to improve the security and performance of their environment. Understanding the goals of the business allowed me to develop a prioritized roadmap of initiatives. The customer was very happy with Thrive and commented that their environment was already in better shape than even a year ago.
