Non-Corporate and Roaming Device Policy
Non-Corporate and Roaming Device Policy
Worksighted is committed to ensuring both the functionality and security of our clients’ systems. We strive to maintain all equipment and keep systems updated and secure according to industry best practices & cybersecurity frameworks provided by the Center for Internet Security (CIS) and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). This is achieved through systems monitoring, routine updates, and configuration management on all managed systems.
Worksighted has adopted a policy that limits the support we are able to provide to personally-owned devices and further introduces support limitations for company-owned devices while not on the premises of our clients’ facilities.
Non-Corporate Device Recommendation
Devices outside the control of your organization (and Worksighted) are not subject to the same rigorous security standards as company-controlled devices. This is one of the main reasons that personally-owned equipment can pose a significant security risk to your company. Therefore, it is not only an industry best practice, but also the recommendation of Worksighted, that you restrict such devices from accessing your systems. If your organization makes an exception to this policy, they assume the associated risk.
Roaming Device Recommendation
Worksighted has also adopted a policy that limits the support we are able to provide for company-owned devices while not on the premises of our clients’ facilities. These limitations are largely due to Worksighted’s inability to control the surrounding network while off-premise. Please refer to the list of equipment and services below that may be subject to limited or no support in these circumstances.
Below is a list of equipment and services that may experience limited or no support in these circumstances as mentioned above:
Company-owned computers (desktop/laptops/tablets): Devices owned by the company and fully managed with the Worksighted toolset are fully supported both on-premise and off-premise as they were originally deployed to end users.
Access to network/internet/VPN: Devices are supported providing the issue(s) are directly related to the computer and/or supported software under agreement on the computer. Worksighted is unable to assist with public or home networks including connectivity issues beyond the company-owned device. Worksighted is unable to modify employee-owned networking equipment such as Internet Service Provider (ISP) equipment, or an employee owned router running duplicate IP addressing of a company subnet.
Connections to local and network printers and scanners: Basic connectivity and installation of printer/scanner drivers is supported on company-owned devices only. Troubleshooting connection issues or setting up personally-owned printers and scanners is not supported under agreement.
Company and personal cell phones: Business specific applications are supported under agreement (ex: Microsoft Office applications, Microsoft Authenticator). Worksighted is unable to troubleshoot personal network/internet/firewall issues, or any cell phone operating system issues.
Personal/shared/public computers: These devices are not supported under agreement, Worksighted engineers are unable to remotely connect to assets that are not company-owned. Core business applications supported under agreement, including VPN client software, will not be installed or supported on a personally-owned computer.
