Disaster Recovery
Disaster Recovery and Rebuilding
“While natural disasters capture headlines and national attention short-term, the work of recovery and rebuilding is long-term.”
-Sylvia Mathews Burwell
It doesn’t take a natural disaster to bring down the systems your business relies on. It could be something very simple and it could happen at any time. The cloud has made it easy for anyone to protect themselves from disaster. The bigger question is, how long will it take to recover when disaster strikes?
Recovery time and acceptable data loss are often overlooked. How long will it take you to recover business critical systems? How much data are you willing to lose? Restoring data can be tedious and in a lot of situations, takes far too long.
In a virtualized environment, there are several options. Many of these reduce both recovery and data loss. Two solutions we rely on are Veeam and Zerto.
Veeam
Veeam is a reliable solution that has been around for more than ten years. Veeam provides both backup and replication of virtual machines. Veeam is an excellent option for restoring individual files or entire virtual server. When replicating offsite, entire systems can be back online minutes after a disaster. All with as low as a fifteen minute RPO (Recovery Point Objectives).
Zerto
Zerto provides continuous replication to a secondary location. When new data writes to disk a second copy is also written to the replicated copy. It’s strength isn’t long term backup, it is the low recovery time combined with minimal data loss. In the event of a disaster you can be back online in minutes with only seconds of data loss.
With proper planning “the work of disaster recovery and rebuilding” does not have to be long-term. Contact Thrive to discuss the unique challenges in your environment. Be ready for a disaster, get your business back online with minimal interruption.
