Position Summary

The Principal Consultant is responsible for building long-term trusted relationships with our clients.  Managing a number of assigned accounts; the primary objective of this position is to understand the client’s technical and business requirements, infuse a sound technology strategy to increase efficiencies and maintain operational health, while adopting new solutions and functionality to maximize the client’s investment.  This position is also responsible for continuously proving the value of Thrive’s services to the customer, to identify and mitigate risk, and maintain contract profitability and client lifetime – these are the three crucial responsibilities of the Principal Consultant.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a deep functional knowledge of customer’s goals, technical challenges, and business critical infrastructure
  • Own the customer relationship, field technical escalations, and serve as client’s trusted advisor and advocate
  • Engage with clients to ensure shared understanding of the value derived from Thrive’s service offerings
  • Possess a deep understanding of Thrive’s Product Catalog and educate clients where applicable
  • Assist with budget forecasting and financial cost analysis reports and documentation
  • Coordinate with project team for scope of work creation, assist with project and services implementation, participate in project meetings/calls as well as in the onboarding of new customers to ensure a successful and lasting friendship
  • Develop a strategy to meet the profitability targets of customer contracts put forth by Thrive
  • Maintain technical competence by attending and participating in trainings, webinars, and certification courses
  • Regularly engage and partner with members of the Engineering, Cloud Operations, Project Management, & Service Delivery teams
  • Convert legacy and non-standard client contracts to Thrive platform service offerings
  • Provide technology guidance and near-term strategic direction for client accounts
  • Review and participate in client change management review and approvals
  • Monitor Account Management dashboards and team assigned case queues
  • Create, consolidate, and update internal and client process and technical documentation
  • Assist with internal projects and project management tasks


  • At least three years of experience in a similar customer service, technical advisory, or IT Director/Manager oriented role
  • Proven ability to adapt to new technologies and learn quickly
  • Demonstrated presentation skills, including confidence and comfort over the phone and in front of audiences both small and large
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with senior-level executives as well as negotiate with and influence both internal and external decision makers
  • Professional experience in relationship management, conflict resolution, and negotiation skills
  • Strong leadership skills – Must act as our clients’ trusted advisor
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including client-facing presentation skills
